Important Safety Notice for Kettles in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of kettles. Due to the effects of high temperatures, hot water and steam, fragile materials, and the risk of tipping over, it is essential to follow the instructions below to prevent injuries and damage. This notice is issued based on the requirements of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (hereinafter referred to as "GPSR").

Basic Safety and Handling Principles

• Keep out of reach of children: There is a risk of scalding from hot water and steam, burns from surfaces, and cuts from broken glass/ceramics.
• Stability and grip: Place the kettle on a stable, heat-resistant, and non-slip surface; hold the handle when pouring and protect your hands.
• Check before use: Inspect for cracks, loose handles, leaking lids, damaged strainers, or limescale in the neck. Do not use a damaged product.
• Heat compatibility: For direct heating, use only models explicitly stated as suitable for stovetops/flames (including types: gas, electric, induction).

Proper and Safe Use

• Use as intended: Intended for heating water and brewing tea according to the manufacturer's instructions; do not overheat an empty kettle.
• Filling and steam: Do not fill above the recommended mark; keep the lid firmly in place during boiling and direct the spout/steam vent away from face and body.
• Thermal shocks: Do not expose to sudden temperature changes (e.g., cold water into hot glass/ceramics or a hot kettle on a cold surface).
• Safe surroundings: Keep away from the edge of the work surface; pour slowly to avoid splashing.
• Electrical components: If the kettle contains electronics (whistle with temperature sensor, etc.), follow special instructions; electric kettles have their own safety rules.

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage

• Cleaning: Allow to cool before cleaning; do not cool rapidly under running water. Clean according to the material, avoid abrasive sponges and aggressive cleaners.
• Limescale: Regularly remove limescale with a suitable product or solution according to instructions; rinse thoroughly after descaling.
• Storage: Store dry and open (without a closed lid) to prevent odors and moisture.

Specific Health Warnings

• Food contact: Use only materials suitable for contact with drinking water; if unusual smell, taste, or discoloration occurs, do not use the water and clean the kettle.
• Burns and scalds: Steam escaping from the spout and openings can cause burns; never lean over the spout.

Disposal

• Safe disposal: Wrap broken glass/ceramics in sturdy material; sort metal parts according to local regulations; hand over electronic components to e-waste collection.

Incidents and Contact

• In case of an incident (scalding, burns, breakage), immediately stop using the product. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint processing.
