Outdoor Folding Knife B3123 - Yellow / Silver

Important Safety Notice for Folding Knives in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of folding knives. Due to the sharp blade, opening/locking mechanism, and carrying in a pocket, it is essential to follow the instructions below to avoid injuries and damage. This notice is issued based on the requirements of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety.

Basic Safety and Handling Principles

• Keep out of reach of children: Knives are not toys; there is a risk of cuts or punctures.
• Check before use: Check the cleanliness of the blade path and the functionality of the lock (e.g., liner, frame, back lock). The blade must securely lock when opened; do not use the knife if the lock is defective.
• Safe opening and closing: Keep fingers away from the blade path, open and close slowly and under control. Never try to catch a falling knife.
• Carrying: Carry only a folded knife; use a clip or sheath. Avoid places where it could open unintentionally.
• Follow the manufacturer’s instructions: Respect the intended use of the knife and local rules for carrying and using knives.

Proper and Safe Use

• Use as intended: Intended for cutting suitable materials. Do not use for prying, screwing, chopping, nailing, or as a hammer or chisel.
• Working posture: Cut on a stable surface away from the body and others; hold the knife with a firm grip.
• One-handed operation: Open with one hand only in a safe area and with full control; keep bystanders at a distance.
• Contact with food: If using the knife for food, clean thoroughly after use to prevent cross-contamination.

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage

• Cleaning: Wipe and dry the knife after use; do not soak for long periods or wash in a dishwasher. Avoid aggressive cleaners and abrasives.
• Maintenance: Regularly lubricate the pivot with a drop of suitable oil, keep the lock clean, and tighten loose screws. Do not use the knife if the blade has play or the lock slips.
• Sharpening: Sharpen with a suitable tool maintaining the correct angle; have a damaged blade or lock checked by a professional.
• Storage: Store folded, dry, and clean in a sheath or a safe place out of reach of children.

Specific Health Warnings

• Injuries: Stop work if cut, treat the wound; seek medical help for deep or bleeding injuries.
• Allergies and sensitive skin: Some maintenance oils and alloys may cause reactions; discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Disposal

• Safe disposal: Wrap dull or damaged knives to prevent injury to waste handlers; dispose of metal parts according to local metal recycling regulations.

Incidents and Contact

• In case of an incident (injury or other damage), stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint handling.
